I went Sarum house and Monty’s in 1971-75 with my 2 brothers Ronny (older and Prefect) and Tony (Twin), Mr Hester was in charge, I do remember picture of swimming competition, it was tradition to throw house leader I think it was Queens or Balmoral that won that year I remember this all to well, All prefects had red, green blue Yellow collars depending in what house they where in, I was in school council so I had a red tag on my chest pocket, The Boarding school was great, with loads of mates, but Mr Hester was scary as hell back then.
I see the picture (above) was taken from the boarding house , we were in our Sunday suites which we had to where to go to church in !!
I slept in yellow dorm with 8 others we had blue dorm at the other end and green and brown in the middle all prefects had there own room, I think Mr Davis and his Wife took over for some time as house staff, I think is was Mrs Bigels in the Kitchen she was Like a Mum to all of us.
I do remember Mr Starkey ( he was the nightmare of all naughty boys)he could run across the rugger pitch like lightning, I remember our Music teacher he was old and had Hearing aid… cant remember his name, well we where in the school choir and called our selves the Montgomery singers, and sang in all the churches including Winchester cathedral. Happy days!
